Intimate Wedding at Freeman’s Restaurant in New York City

Ananda and Cameron shared with me on our first consultation call that they wanted to be present for their wedding day, and their wish was for family and friends to be the focus of the day. They wanted to work with a documentary style wedding photographer who captured the smaller moments, so my goal was to do just that. These photos were captured on both digital and film cameras.

The bride got ready with her girls at The Public Hotel, and then we walked the two blocks to Freeman’s Restaurant where the ceremony and reception were held. Freeman’s is a hidden (literally) gem on the lower east side of Manhattan that is at the end of a graffiti alley called Freeman’s Alley. Freeman’s is an intimate restaurant downstairs with rooms for private parties upstairs, where the ceremony was held. There is even a speakeasy upstairs called Banzarbar.

The ceremony was brief but thoughtful with vows written by the bride and groom, and then dinner was served while speeches were made by family and friends of the couple. A&C then cut a three-tiered cake that the bride made herself! See the gallery from the day below.
