Frequently asked questions.

Wedding Questions

  • Both! Your final gallery will be a mix of digital photos and film scans. I also edit my digital photos to mimic the soft focus and rich tones of film.

  • By the time your wedding day comes around we will be very familiar with each other! I offer guidance on backdrop for the ceremony, timing for optimal light, and we can talk through other details such as benefits of doing a first look, or the amount of time we should set aside to get certain types of shots. I will communicate with your wedding planner directly for as much information as possible to keep your planning time at a minimum and as stress-free as possible, while maintaining your goals and vision for the day.

  • Yes, I love to. I’ve photographed weddings in places like Cape Cod, Jackson Hole, Sonoma, Nashville and beyond.

  • At least 24 hours prior to the first wedding event. This allows for me to walk the venue, and scout different areas for portraits, as well as familiarize myself with the lighting of the venue. It also accounts for potential travel delays.

  • My travel fees are included in my booking fee, so there are no surprises and you see the total amount up front. The amount that I include covers my plane ticket or gas, a rental car if needed and a place to stay for me and my team.

  • Typically the gallery is curated of 75–100 images per hour of coverage.

  • A first look can be beneficial for a few reasons. It allows you to get the most out of your photography time, as well as time with your guests after the ceremony. With a first look, we are able to do couples photos, bridal party photos and many family photos prior to the wedding ceremony, leaving only a few family photos to take after the ceremony and before joining your guests.

  • Yes, sometimes. I am also comfortable capturing most wedding days on my own.

  • With my storytelling approach, I guarantee your favorite moments of the day and more will be captured in your final gallery. Not working off of a shot list allows me to fully tuned into the emotions of the day, both big and small, and capture your day in the most meaningful way possible.

However, I send you a questionnaire (and we discuss your answers over a phone call or cup of coffee) several weeks before the wedding where you have an opportunity to highlight any special relationships you’d like me to pay close attention to, such as a grandparent who raised you, or a close relative who might have health concerns.

General Questions

  • Mini shoots are 15 minute time slots at a location chosen by me! Pricing varies slightly depending on location, but are around $250 per time slot. I deliver ~25 high resolution edited photos per mini session. They are great for families with small children, holiday card photos, or photos for families who do not want to invest in a full photography session.

I usually do a few days of mini sessions in the fall and again in the spring, and they book up very fast. I announce them on Instagram, or you can add your email here to get a mini shoot announcement when I open my books!

  • I do some skin smoothing and will edit out anything that would be thought of as temporary — such as a blemish, acne or bruise. If you are self conscious about a part of your body in particular, feel free to let me know and I will keep it in mind while posing you!

  • You’re not alone in feeling this way! Do your best (and I will remind you) to stay in the moment, and your authentic self will come through in the photos. All of the photos on my website are of real people—it is my job to create a safe space for you to feel comfortable being yourself.

  • Overcast weather can be the best lighting for photos and appears to “glow,” and other inclement weather can create a really unique backdrop — if the weather is bad enough where it would be dangerous, could ruin my equipment, or is just really not what you want, we will reschedule!

  • Something you feel comfortable and confident in. Avoid busy patterns, and colors too close to your skin tone. Bright red and orange can also reflect onto your face and make your cheeks look rosy. When choosing your outfit, think about how you have felt looking at past photos of yourself. Is there something you have worn that you really like the way it made you look in photos, or the way it made you feel while wearing it? What are your favorite things about yourself, and how can you draw attention to them?

  • I usually deliver around 100 photos per hour of shooting. I do my best to get a “sneak peek” to you within 48 hours of your photoshoot, and deliver the remaining edited photos in an online gallery within 8 weeks.

  • There are many times during our session when I will pose you, or offer subtle guidance. If I think something very specific will look nice, I will tell you. If not, I usually will place you in favorable light and let the chemistry take over from there!

  • Only with your permission. If I am photographing your wedding day, we will chat in advance about your comfort level with sharing images on social media, or having the images published.

  • I do not, because without editing the photos are only halfway done! However, I am careful to include every memory from your day and if you feel that I have forgotten one, feel free to ask me and I can review my files!

  • I don’t just allow them, I encourage them. Please bring your sweet boys and girls.
